4th. As the day was breaking and during our Reveille beating, our Pickets were unexpectedly attacked by the rebel army, &c. A Flag of truce sent out to the Enemy for surgeons for their wounded. During the action of this day, the countenances and actions of many of the Inhabitants of Philadelphia were rather rebellious and seem to indicate their wish for the rebels to regain the city.
