Thank you to all that participated in the 233rd Anniversary of the Siege and Bombardment of Fort Mifflin. Thank you to Beth Beatty the new Director for allowing us to continue a 34 year tradition and putting up with me. Thank you to the staff for picking up after us and providing the tours. Thank you to the many volunteers, especially those on parking lot detail, gate detail, and food sales detail. Thank you to those who helped the staff, pick up the cartridge papers after each of the 4 tactical demonstrations. A Big Thank You to Isabel & Jim Mossetter for organizing the kitchen and the members of the Society that have volunteered for Kitchen detail. Your efforts helped feed 150 re-enactors, volunteers and staff for 3 different meals. Another Big Thank You to Captain Patrick Jordan of the 3rd PA and long standing member of the Historical Society, for organizing the 200 re-enactors for the tactical demonstrations, Artillery demonstrations, Uniforms & weapons, and the different displays throughout the Fort. Thank you to Del Merrit and the Sea Dogs for entertaining the troops Saturday evening. Thank you to the weather that cooperated for the entire weekend with sunny skies and moderate temperatures. And thank you to all of the re-enactors for joining us this weekend, to tell the story of Fort Mifflin. In all we edu-tained (educated and entertained) 750 paying guests this past weekend. In my 37 years with the Fort this weekend was a record. We even surpassed the amount of tickets sold when the GAR was selling tickets for picnics at the Fort after the Civil War. Their purpose was to raise funds for the children and widows of the Union Army.
As I stated all weekend, when you are a re-enactor, you joined a unique community, one which I am very proud and honored to be a member of. If I have missed anyone, I apologize but thank you again to all that took part in the Siege at Fort Mifflin this past weekend.
Thank You Ed
