DESCRIPTION: <p>This little known battle took place in Mount Holly a few days before Trenton. The Iron Works Hill event is a re-enactment of a diversionary battle that kept another 1500 Hessians from supporting those that were in Trenton. Due to the efforts of the militia and IIRC a Virginia <a class=\\"glossary-term\\" href=\\"/glossary/term/16\\"><acronym title=\\"n. A body of men\, either horse\, foot\, or artillery\, commanded by a colonel\, and consisting of a number of companies\, usually ten. Webster's\, 1913. -->\\">Regiment</acronym></a>\, Col. von Donop kept his forces in and around Mount Holly instead of moving to Trenton.</p>

Webster's\, 1913. -->\\">Regiment</acronym></a> under Captain William Washington (cousin to General George Washington) and Lt. James Monroe (later to become the fifth President of the United States) that left from Coryell's Ferry (New Hope) and secured the roads to Trenton.</p>
