Hello Again

As you may have noticed, FortMIfflin.com has undergone some renovations -- a fresh coat of paint and a new framework behind the scenes. We are looking forward to fleshing out the site; we will be adding events, writing articles, and making friends.

In the weeks ahead, we plan to reintroduce old features and build some new ones. A top priority will be restoring the interactive timeline that presented correspondence between, and diary entries of, participants in the 1777 siege of Fort Mifflin. We will also dig up records for the men and vessels of the Pennsylvania State Navy; we had them posted years ago, but they were left out of the site's last incarnation.

While the site's defining moment was in the autumn of 1777, Fort Mifflin served the United States faithfully for 183 years of active service. It was a cornerstone of the First, Second, and Third Coastal Defense Systems beginning in 1794 and lasting until 1860. It was a Union prison camp during the Civil War and finally a supply station in the 20th Century. Many of these stories will be told in the months and years ahead.

Please stay tuned for more.
